Synopsis

Young reporters Cecilia and Tavayah got to check out Pig Heart Boy. They were given VIP access to the powerful stage adaptation of Pig Heart Boy at Lowry Theatre in Salford.

Based on the award-winning novel by Malorie Blackman, Pig Heart Boy follows the emotional journey of 13-year-old Cameron, who’s living with heart failure and faced with a life-changing decision – to be the first person to receive a pig's heart transplant. It’s a gripping and thought-provoking play that sparks big conversations about medical ethics, friendship, and family.

From backstage to front row, they were ready for action - getting hands-on with the cameras, presenting and after the performance, after the show, they took to the foyer to vox pop the audience and had the exciting job of interviewing the cast!

From the Editor...

I have experience coaching and working with kids and young people on camera.

One example is Media Cubs, a popup newsroom where kids and young people have the opportunity to become journalists and reporters, reviewing family experiences, outdoor activities and theatre.

Through Media Cubs, kids and young people can work on their presenting skills, interviewing members of the public, as well as gain media training and experience that could inspire their chosen career!
