Showreel

Marcus filming in the Peak District

Marcus Brooks | Freelance Filmmaker

I’m a self-shooting, self-editing Freelance Videographer with 10 years professional experience. After nearly 7 years working in-house, I decided to take a chance on myself and go freelance full-time. From March 2023, I’ve been honing my skills and building my reputation with each project. I have produced content to be shown at trade shows and expos with global reach, as well as having co-directed and produced my own feature-length award-winning documentary, ‘Ambitious 220’. I have also worked in several roles on shoots for scripted internal corporate training films.

As I continuously hone my skills, I actively seek the opportunity to work and collaborate with others in the industry. I firmly believe my creativity, technical ability and attentiveness to detail make me an asset to any film production team, and that as a team we can achieve great things while having fun along the way. Be sure to see examples of previous work below!

Documentary

My first feature-length film, in collaboration with Rapha Manchester in support of Ambitious About Autism.

See “Ambitious 220”, where four friends take up an epic cycling challenge that would see them ride 220 miles across the UK in under 24 hours.

Industry Spotlight

Working with the British Fashion Council, UK Fashion & Textile Association and numerous clothing brands manufacturers, we documented how it’s made with a focus on circularity and sustainability. From the spinning and weaving mills in Scotland and Yorkshire, through the bespoke tailors on Savile Row, all the way to the high street in Covent Garden and Mayfair, the UK is leading the charge in innovation and sustainable manufacturing. This film follows the Circular Fashion Innovation Network (CFIN) programme in its first year.

Start-up Company Journey

Compressing 10 years of a company’s success story into a 10 minute film is no easy task. From archive photos from the early days, to animated remakes of some of the first wireframes and prototype web designs, “From Dream to Reality” tells the 10 year story of how Wakelet, a content curation platform, came to be used and loved by millions worldwide.

Conference Highlights

Over the years, I have produced countless highlight reels for events and conferences; from live streaming multi-cam keynotes to interviewing delegates between sessions.

See this example for Partnership Leaders, filmed in Denver, Colorado, USA.

Motoring

With a deep love for motoring, through the lens we can create films that truly captivate what makes a car special. I collaborated on a film for 911 Box, an independent Porsche specialist, showcasing the classic 964 on a test drive.

Let’s talk!

Got a project in mind? I’d love to hear it!

I’m one of those digital nomads without a physical office space. So, if you’d prefer to chat in person and if you’re around Manchester, here’s a coffee shop I like…
